Are Nootropics Worth it?
Nootropics are a big thing nowadays. I've tried a few myself and I was surprised at the results. I don't normally like to have anything besides coffee, but my friends tempted me with their stories of business success and soaring grades. What are nootropics and what do they do? Let's figure it out!
What is a nootropic?
A nootropic is a brain supplement, that is supposed to enhance your cognition, memory, focus, and mood. There are literally hundreds of drugs that do these things, and they all have their own unique traits, strengths, and side effects. Some can be mixed together to create a powerful concoction, offering different benefits wrapped up into one.
Nootropics mostly act on the central nervous system and neurotransmitters, which are chemicals released from the brain in different situations. Dopamine and serotonin are examples of these chemicals that are effected by nootropics.
Examples of nootropics
Like I said, there's hundreds. But, here are a few of the major names you will see time and time again.
Noopept
This bad boy is 1,000 times stronger than other nootropics on the market. It's powerful to say the least. Only experienced users should take this. It was first created in 1996, so it's relatively young from a scientific standpoint. That is one problem with nootropics, there are studies on them, but they aren't old enough to know the long term effects. Many users have reported little to no ill effects after long use, but you never know. Everyone has a different body and brain.
Aniracetam
This drug is from the Racetam class. Piracetam is another example of nootropic from this family. Aniracetam is mostly known for it's ability to increase someones mood, happiness, and overall emotional state. It can help with memory, focus, and cognitive function, but tends to be more beneficial for how you feel everyday. But, think about it. If you feel better in general, you're probably going to stay more focused and aware of what you're doing. That could be work, studying, or doing errands.
Benefits of nootropics
Now that you grasp what a nootropic is and some examples of the available ones on the market. What are you actually gonna get out of it?
- Memory: You can definitely expect to have better recall and long term memory by regularly taking nootropics. Many studies have shown that it increases memory in various tests.
- Mood: When your neurotransmitters are effected by nootropics, you will feel happier, more optimistic, and looking forward to your day. This can lead to a better social life, interactions, and overall productivity during your day.
- Focus: Do you get distracted easily? I know that I do. Thanks to nootropics like Piracetam, I can remain focused throughout the day and can get a lot more work done.
